JOIN THE PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD

We are soliciting nominations for all roles for next school year (2024-25). This is a great opportunity to support our school. The election is in June, term starts on July 1, 2024. There are plenty of roles, so find the one that suits your interest and time availability.

Election: Preceding the June 12 General Membership Meeting

Treasurers

● Familiar with NY State PTA Finance Guide
● Previous role in PTA finance, professional treasurer’s or accounting experience
● Non-profit budgeting
● Familiarity with Quickbooks
● Monthly budget tracking reporting

● 2 to 3 hours per week each
● Finance committee meeting
● Budget meeting
● Monthly EB and Gen meetings

 

 

Assistant Treasurers (Annual Appeal)
(2 positions)
● Previous experience in school
or non-profit
● Experience with Q-give tool
● Crafting letters and other
promotional artifacts for
outreach
● Tracking and reporting progress toward the yearly goal

●  ~10 hours per week

● Monthly EB and Gen meetings

Recording Secretary
(2 positions)
● Familiarity with Robert’s Rules / consult during meetings
● Experience with notetaking
● Organize PTA documents and record keeping on Google Drive
● 2 to 4 hours per month each
● Commitment to attend/coverage of all PTA EB and Gen meetings (2 per month)
VPs of Fundraising
(2 positions)
●  Previous school or non-profit
fundraising experience
● Annual Auction Chairs
● Organize fundraising events/coordinate with event chairs
● Collaboration and teamwork
● Plan and lead Committee meetings
● Build a network of parents to assist in coordinating and
executing events

● Variable, Avg 2 to 3 hrs/week for each
● Greater time commitment for Annual
Auction
● Adhoc team planning meetings to support fundraising events
● Monthly EB and GEN meetings

 

 

Communications VPs
(2 positions)
● Produce weekly newsletter/familiarity with email tools
● Copywriting/editing
● Oversee social media channels
● Oversee MS54pta.org website
● Work with other committees and the school admin team on all communications and messaging
● 4 hours/week each
● Committee/Event meetings as needed
● Monthly EB and GEN meetings
Wellness Team Leads
(2 positions)
● Interest and experience in family engagement
● Networking with speakers who align with family engagement and wellness topics
● Managing wellness committee budget
● Flexible, ~ 4 to 6 hrs per month each
● Monthly meetings for Chairperson (EB, GEN, Wellness Talks)
● Other adhoc meetings to support the family engagement mission
● Variable preparation time per topic
Equity Team Leads
(2 Positions)
● Foster an inclusive culture that engages the diversity of our school community
● Develop initiatives that promote student achievement and eliminate inequities
● Cultivate a safe and healthy school environment
● Promote teacher participation and support  in committee
● Flexible, ~ 4 to 6 hrs per month each
● Monthly meetings for Chairperson (EB, GEN, Equity Talks)
● Multiple events participation throughout the year
● Other adhoc meetings to support the Equity mission
● Variable preparation time per topic
8th Class Rep
(1 position)
●  Previous experience in class rep or parent roles
● Organizing regular activities to support parent participation, community building, and school spirit
● Enthusiasm and parent outreach

● ~ 10 hours per month
● Monthly EB and GEN meetings
● Adhoc meetings with class parents

 

7th Class Rep
(1 position)
● Previous experience in class rep or parent roles
● Organizing regular activities to support parent participation, community building, and school spirit
